The Legend of the Sour MJ Boards
Twenty of each graphics to be released
It was 2019 and we were about to launch Michael Jackson boards for Nisse and Josef. The joke was self-evident and Sour alike controversial. Nisse was having the young Michael and Josef the later version of the deceased King of Pop as a graphic.
The pre-books were on fire and by then it was our best selling board by far. Once again we put all our money into production, spun the wheel of this skateboard business roulette and sat back waiting for the questionable, totally illegal masterpieces to arrive.
Some months later I was smoking a little doobie with Jamie the dancer on the Theatre Ledge when somebody mentioned that a (now infamous) documentary Leaving Neverland had just come out. And then it hit me!
Ah fuck! We were about to receive the MJ decks the following morning.
Well let’s watch the program first and see how bad it is. Well bad it was, and indeed the next morning we received the boards. A lot of them.
Here was the dilemma: Would we send these out and potentially get our stores and distributors in trouble, and put Sour in a very questionable light? But by not sending them we would face potential bankruptcy.
It was a decision time.
After deliberating hard and talking to our (very understanding) stores and distributors, we decided not to release them.
Instead we sent the boards back to the factory to be re-printed as “sensitive content” and sold 'em as such.
BUT we saved a few board boxes for future something special.
AND Despite people asking, begging, and even attempting to steal em, we have refused to release any of the original boards. Until now.
The highly limited collector items – Twenty of each graphic – available right here, right now.
